JCILPS Students' Wing has said that they have taught a befitting lesson to the Education Minister, who announced resumption of classes in the educational institutes of Greater Imphal area on the pretext of putting an effort to save the academic career of students.
In a statement, Students' Wing also strongly condemned police action on a group of student protesters at Secretariat complex yesterday.
The police action especially meted out by a police Inspector was too rude, the statement said.
The Students' Wing questioned Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds Home Portfolio, why no action has been taken against such police personnel till date.
Saying that students who were demanding an effective Bill for the protection of the whole indigenous population were mercilessly beaten up, JCILPS questioned what type police modernisation it was.
As such, the concerned Ministers must step down on its own, the Students' Wing demanded.
It further questioned the Government why seven student leaders are still detained in the jail.
Students' Wing informed that students today locked the offices of ZEO, Imphal East, Commerce and Industries Department, Census Department, Porompat, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Porompat, Art and Culture Department, Palace compound, SDC, Wangoi, ZEO, Wangoi, SDO, Wangoi.
On the other hand, Students' Wing urged the local clubs and meira paibee bodies to supervise the 48 hours general strike and avoid unwanted incidents.
It also urged the protesters not to prevent movement of media persons, people who need medical treatment, religious activities, medical, water supply and electricity staff.
