Local entrepreneur seeks Govt attention

With the prevailing situtations of nationwide lockdown, social distancing, closed market and no customers coming to the centre, the proprietor of M/S Singei Puinat Nursery (SP Nursery) E Robi of Mayangkhang village Kangpokpi has sought the attention of the government to provide necessary assistance for their livelihood.
E Robi, who is also an awardee of the State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute's State Best Farmer Award in horticulture is a local entrepreneur who makes a lviing by growing and selling Carnation flowers.
Speaking to this correspondent, the local entrepreneur stated that Kangpokpi Horticulture department had reportedly assisted her centre with some 10,000 carnation saplings and green house last year.
Usually, the flower get maturity with its full bloom of different colours which sell off in the month of March or early April each year.
Each stem of the flower costs Rs.20 which is used for decorations and bouquet.
She also informed that she had targeted to sell more than 40,000 stems in March and early April this year.
However, with the outbreak of Covid-19 and subsequent declaration of nationwide lockdown in early March this year, the cut flowers started decaying without any sale.
Robi also said that only up to 500 stems were sold in early March.
E Robi, wife of David reportedly has 3 children and the family depend on the income from sale of the flowers/carnations.
Different labour charges were also reportedly incurred during making and planting of saplings including hired labour, manure and good soil etc and has therefore sought the Govt's assistance to find an alternative for their living.
