In the February 23 Nagaland Assembly general election, the election of 53 Teunsang Sadar I could not be conducted following the sudden demise of Congress candidate P Cuba Chang, who was also sitting Congress MLA, on February 22 here at Naga Hospital, Kohima.
This unfortunate demise of Congress candidate had necessitated to adjourn the election of this 53 Tuensang Sadar I Assembly Constituency to March 23 next.
Son of former Nagaland Minister Changkok Chang, Toyang Changkok Chang, an Independent candidate, defeated his rival ruling NPF candidate L Elam Chang by a margin of 2272 votes.
