Imphal, January 04 2014 : Protection of Agricultural Land and Natural Resources Organisation (PALNRO) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi demanding establishment of State Agricultural Statistics Authority, working out of a land use policy in the State and protection of agricultural lands.

In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, PALNRO Advisor Mutum Churamani said that the organisation had conducted a seminar on protection of agricultural land.

Saying that the memorandum was submitted on January 1, Churamani said that it also demanded that the State Revenue Department conduct land use survey every year, supply rice produced in Manipur when Food Security Act is implemented.

Expressing concern over mushrooming up of schools, colleges, brickfields on agricultural land he also decried Government's plan of setting up Pony Sanctuary at Heingang.

He added that constant acquisition of agricultural land would only bring scarcity of foodstuff.
