Foundation Day celebrated

The Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) observed its 24th Foundation Day at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal today.
It was attended by former Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi; LEIKOL president, Kshetrimayum Subadani and Manipur Cultural Association president, Kangjam Radhakumar as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, O Ibobi said "Literature is an asset to society, literature can reflect society's values, both good and bad, which can help people identify and address issues" .
He asserted that literature plays a vital role in expressing and preserving the cultural identity of a community, allowing future generations to connect with their roots.
He also urged the writers to play significant roles in shaping the society and guiding the youths.
As part of the function, the 2nd edition of the book "Ahingba Upanyas" written by Nahakpam Aruna was released.
Thiyam Krishnachandra Radhesakhi Award and Kshetrimayum Yaima & Thambal Devi Memorial Literary Award for the year 2024 were conferred to Akendra Tensuba and Moirengjam Devi respectively for their outstanding contribution to literature and its development in Manipur.
Maharajkumari Binodini Memorial Literary Award 2024 was conferred to Cha Khomei while the Khaidem Pramodini Memorial Literary Award 2024 was presented to Yengkhom Indira and Nepram Khilendro Rajkumari Komlasana Short Story Award 2024 was given to to Budhichandra Heisnamba.
Hanjabam Gokul Sharma was also honoured with the Guruaribam Brajamani & Tombi Devi Memorial Literary Award 2024.Meanwhile, the 57 th Foundation Day of the WAL United Youths Club was also celebrated today at the club's community hall in Wangkhei Angom Leikai today.
It was attended by WAL United Youths Club president RK Gokulchandra, WAL Club former honorary president N Ramkumar, former advisor Angom Tomba, patron members RK Sanajaoba and Takhellambam Somorjit as presidium members.
During the event, the gathering offered floral tributes to the deceased members of WAL United Youth Club and brave heroes who gave their lives in the ongoing conflict.
The club also presented Lengyan Phi and Appreciation Certificates to all the generous individuals who contributed in making the Foundation Day celebration a grand success.
As part of the observation, a Waiting Shed and a Store Room were also inaugurated.
