Cropping system based training programme conducted

Department of Agriculture and Plain and Hill Development Organisation Ithai, under the aegis of National Food Security Mission (NFSM) organised a Cropping System Based Training Programme at Ithai Khunou community hall under Bishnupur district today .
MLA of Kumbi AC, S Bira, Agriculture Department Additional Chief Secretary, Dr Suhel Aktar, Director of Agriculture, Ph Rajendra Singh and social worker N Ibobi Singh, attended the event as the presidium members .
Speaking at the event, S Bira urged the farmers to take benefits of the various schemes and programmes provided by the State Government as well as the Agriculture Department .
He also stated that it is unfortunate that most of the rice and paddy were not sown due to the recent flood and incessant rains and appealed to the farmers to interact and learn from the experts on how to improve agricultural yields and produces etc .
Ph Rajendro said that the Agriculture Department has been organising many cluster demonstration in various parts of the State which have benefited numerous farmers .
He pointed out that farmers clubs will be set up in all of the districts which will maintain constant contact with the Agriculture Department and will track the progress of the farmers .
Rajendro further said that the Department has also taken up the process of digging numerous pond for the benefit of the farmers which will help in increasing the yields of the farmers .
On the other hand, Agriculture Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr Suhel Aktar, Director and other officials of the Department along with the representatives of Saiton Heiyengkon Awang Leikon Lup and Ithai Khunou Palin and Hill Development Organisation, inspected various paddy fields of the district.
