Mudslides on NH 39 between Maram bazar and Maram centre is continuing to eat away the periphery wall and repeated landslides are threatening to wash away a major portion of the highway.

In the last 24 hours, at least 5 feet of land has disappeared and cracks have developed at the adjoining areas.
The portion is just 100 metres away from last year's landslides which had led to a sinking of the highway to 100 feet.
With the monsoon not likely to get over any time soon, the threat to the damaged portion is getting worse and now NH 39 is actually only a few metres from its original width.
The damage in two portions has come dangerously close to leading to a total collapse.
