Ukhrul, May 02 2019:
The only Tangkhul newspaper "The Aja" published at Imphal inaugurated its extension office at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul today.
The inauguration programme started with a prayer from Pastor of UBC Church, Ukhrul, Rev Remember Rimai.
Later the Pastor cut the ribbon and declared the office open for all the people of Ukhrul.
Proprietor cum Editor of the "Aja daily" Valleyrose Hungyo said that her family took the initiative of launching the newspaper back in 1990, where her late husband Ngathingkhui Hungyo was the founder and edited the first Tangkhul newspaper, when technical resources and journalists were scarce amongst the Tangkhul community.
Despite all odds and difficulties, the Aja daily has been persistently putting its best foot forward to serve the people in order to spread information to every nook and corner of Tangkhul region, she said.
According to her, the new extension office will not only act as a news stand but will also entail a courier service.
Valleyrose also mentioned that any news or information required for publication can be sent through the extension office and expressed gratitude to the owner of the house Ayo Vashum.
The propietor also handed gifts to the Pastor and the owner as a token of love.
Inauguration programme was attended by a team of Ukhrul journalists led by president UDWJA president Thotshang Shaiza, former president MHJU Sothing Shimray, social organisation leaders, well wishers and the staff of Aja daily.
