The Khuman United Clubs & Meira Paibies Association (KUCMA) has demanded unconditional release of the individuals who were arrested for their alleged involvement in vandalism and arson at the residences of legislators in the valley districts on November 16 .
In a release, KUCMA said that on November 16, after the news of recovery of bodies of six abducted women and children emerged, people came out to streets and vehemently protested the massacre in different parts of the valley districts.
The association asserted that the people infuriated by the cold blooded and barbaric murder of three children and three women by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists at Jiribam stormed the residences of legislators demanding justice for the victims which led to the unfortunate vandalism and arson.
KUCMA expressed regret over the destruction of properties at the residences of the legislators and appealed to the people to show restraint and not repeat such acts in the future.
KUCMA also urged the State Government and relevant authorities to understand the reasons/ sentiments behind the people's fury against the elected representatives and release the individuals who were arrested for alleged involvement in vandalism & arson, on humanitarian grounds.
Furthermore, KUCMA cautioned that if the protestors are not released without any condition at the earliest, the State Government will be held accountable for any untoward incidents.
