National Doctors' Day observed widely

National Doctors' Day was observed widely in the State acknowledging the umpteen contributions of doctors who have been serving humanity selflessly with dedication.
AMMSA
In observance of National Doctors' Day, the All Manipur Medical Students' Association (AMMSA) organized a donation cum free health checkup at Langol Old Age Home today in memory of (L) Sanaton Athokpam, former member of AMMSA.
All residents of Langol Old Age Home were given a thorough medical checkup, necessary medical tests and medication free of cost, a statement issued by AMMSA has informed.
AMMSA also donated 12 sets of chairs, 11 mosquito nets, a 10 litre pressure cooker and some clothes for daily use.
The statement further added that laboratory tests in this connection were carried out by Escent Laboratory.
Lastly, the program was held successfully under the guidance of the staff advisor Professor RK Lenin, Head of Department, Psychiatry, RIMS, Imphal, said the statement.

RIMS
As a part of Doctors Day celebration, RIMS doctors led by Professor Brogen Singh Akoijam, Dean of Academic and Head of Community Medicine Department and Dr Th Meera, Sub Dean and Head of Department of Forensic Medicine visited the Hope Home for Girls at Takyel Kongbal Maning Leikai today.
As per a statement by the Community Medicine Department, RIMS, a health check up was carried out for the inmates of the home and also presented gifts to them as a token of love on the occasion of Doctors' Day.
Rotary Club and NSS Cell, MU
A one day 'Blood Donation Camp' was held at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University (MU) today as part of Doctors' Day observation.
The blood donation camp was organised by Rotary Club of Imphal, RID 3240 in association with National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, MU with technical support from RIMS and 16th Assam Rifles, said a press note by Rotary Club of Imphal, RID 3240 .
Gift items were presented to Rotarian doctors on the Doctors' Day observation for their humanitarian service to mankind.
Professor N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU, Dr M Nodiyachand Singh, Co-ordinator, NSS Cell, MU, Major Deepak Kataria, 16th Assam Rifles and Rotarian Pramod Jaiswal, President of Rotary Club of Imphal attended the event as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Professor N Lokendra Singh emphasized the importance of donating blood to save precious lives and also commended the humanitarian services of National Service Scheme (NSS) towards the community.
Pramod Jaiswal, who is donating blood for the 45th time, appealed to the general public to voluntarily donate blood to save lives.
The need for blood is constant and the life-saving care starts with one person making a generous donation of blood, he added.
Dr M Nodiyachand Singh also informed that around 93 units of blood were donated in today's camp.
T-shirts, certificates of blood donation and eatables were distributed to all the donors as a token of appreciation for their generous act, added the press note.
