Sanskrit Ratna conferred to Wabagai Sanahanbi

Imphal, February 01 2023: 'Sanskrit Ratna' (Nata Sankirtana) has been conferred to noted Nata Sankirtana singer Elangbam Sanahanbi Devi popularly known as Wabagai Sanahanbi.

The award was presented to her at the 12th death anniversary observation of Thokchom Manimacha held at Singjamei Makha Chongtham Leikai today organised by Thokchom Manimacha Memorial Trust.

The programme was graced by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Director P Bilash; Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur Chief Advisor B Amusana Sharma and National awardees Thangsabam Ashangbi and L Lakhpati as the presidium members.

The award conferred to Wabagai Sanahanbi which carries a cash prize of Rs 10, 000, citation and a shawl and is presented by Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation Manipur Joint Secretary Thokchom Dhanakumar.

Speaking at the occasion, Thokchom Manimacha Memorial Trust founder Takhellambam Irabot said that late Thokchom Manimacha made immense contribution in Nata Sankirtana.

To keep alive the songs of this eminent singer, her songs have been uploaded on YouTube, he added.
