Imphal, August 31 2015: A team of Imphal West district police commando arrested an active member of KYKL while conducting checking and frisking near Sky Hospital, RIMS Road.

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, the arrested man has been identified as Yumnam Anand alias Atomba alias Rabi (27) s/o Y Amuchou Singh of Pukhao Khabam Lampak Maning.

Investigation revealed that he had given extortion calls to vehicle showroom owners and hospitals in and around Imphal area.

Incriminating articles were seized from his possession.

A case has been registered at Imphal PS and investigation is going on, it added.

Meanwhile, troops of the 12 Bihar Battalion of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) launched an operation in Upokpi Mamang Leikai area and apprehended one KYKL cadre on Aug 30.The apprehendee was identified as No 3024 (Batch No 16), Yumnam Nanao alias Nongdamba (26) S/o Subon Singh of Upokpi Mamang Leikai and was handed over to the Wangoi Police Station, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) .

On the other hand, three KNF (N) cadres were apprehended on Aug 29.They revealed that two weapons belonging to KNF-N (Dauthalang faction) were hidden in the houses of Chongkhulan Kipgen and Lalpu Mangte of Bongbal Khullen.

Acting on this revelation, the combined team of 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) and Imphal East Police Commandos launched a joint search operation of the said houses and recovered two 7.62mm A-1 Rifles (Burma), two empty magazines of A-1 Rifle and two mobile phones with SIM cards on 29 Aug 2015.The recovered weapons have been handed over to the Porompat Police Station, it said.
