Imphal, June 30 2015 :
The Meitei Youth Front, South East Asia (MYF SEA) has reiterated that it is against the demand for transfer of land records from the valley to hill district administrations and any attempt to cede the land of the Meiteis will be opposed strongly.
In a statement MYFSEA president Ng Mangal Meetei asserted that the counter-blockade to ATSUM economic blockade has been imposed in the interest of the community's future.
MYF also reiterated that the front would conduct a public meeting to discuss whether ATSUM should be allowed to run its office in Imphal or not, while also urging all concerned organisations to attend the meeting.
ATSUM has been carrying out its activities in Meitei area due to the community's restraint to show Imphal's importance.
This will no longer be allowed and whether ATSUM would be allowed to continue running its office in Imphal is in the hands of the Meiteis.
Reiterating that the front will enforce the counter-blockade as long as the blockade is imposed, MYF said that the front will give special attention to Chandel district.
Elucidating the front's usage of the term, 'foreigners,' the statement said that communities which are in existence during the time when Manipur was a sovereign country would be called 'indigenous' .
And the term 'foreigner' is also applicable to communities which do not have 'dynasty' .
However, the encompassing Meiteis, in the spirit of unity, inferred all people of the State as 'indigenous' out of affection.
As per the 'rules' of the MYF, anyone settling in Manipur after 1947 are not 'indigenous,' it said while urging all concerned not to play dirty politics in this regard.
Giving reasons why the Front is against the transfer of land records, MYF said that some tribal villages fell under the jurisdiction of the valley districts when district boundaries were demarcated in Manipur.
The simple reason is that the surveyed area falls within the valley districts and the unsurveyed area falls within the hill districts.
ATSUM has been demanding the transfer of land records to hill districts of those villages which have tribal name falling under the administrative jurisdiction of the valley districts.
The issue of transferring land records amounts to divide and rule, it said.
Giving a wake-up call to the people of Thoubal district, MYF sounded an alert that the land will be lost unless the people wake up to the clarion call.
Asserting that nothing without the consent of the Meitei organisations will be practical and feasible, the MYF urged all concerned not to counter or resist the activities of the front.
