'World No Tobacco Day' observed

The World No Tobacco Day, 2022 was observed today at Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram, Grace Cottage Academy, Kakching and Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai in separate events.
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the National Service Scheme of Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram raised awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco.
A pledge taking ceremony was also organized for the students, teaching and non teaching staff in a befitting manner during the assembly followed by an exhortation from Dr Fr KO Sebastian SDB, Principal.
NSS Volunteers then went door to door in Maram Centre to sensitize the people.
Separately, Kakching High School-1984 Matric Batch, Lions Club of Kakching Greater and Grace Cottage Academy, Kakching jointly organised an event in connection with World No Tobacco Day.
During the event, Naorem Munal Meitei, ACF, Chandel and president of Kakching High school 1984 Matric Batch highlighted the need for Manipur Green Day and Model Forest Village.
He shared that this year the observation was conducted under the theme of "Tobacco: Threat to our Environment" .
Munal went on to enumerate the dangerous impacts of tobacco cultivation and use on the environment and the human body in detail.
The event was also attended by Dr M Rajkumar Singh, president, Lions Club of Kakching, Uttam Kumar naorem, treasurer and Sh Manihar, secretary, Kakching High School 1984 batch.
At Heirok, Ningol Club organised World Tobacco Day observation at Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai Bamon Mandop.
The event was attended by Dr Y Nokul, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal, Sophiya Khundongbam, president Ningol Club, Hijam Priyokumar, president, CADA and Phulchan Takhelcham, president Consumers' Club as presidium members.
