Yamthong Haokip pledges dust-free Saikul AC

A 2.5 kilometre road linking Wunghon village and nearby areas under Saikul assembly constituency, which was recently black-topped, has been dedicated today to the locals by MLA Yamthong Haokip.
Highlighting that the road development work started in November 2013 followed by black-topping of the 2.5 km stretch from December 18 to 24, the Saikul AC representative said the project was undertaken under the 2012-13 special plan assistance of the PWD.
Conveying that black topping of Pangyang and Champhai village roads of the AC have also been completed while for Gangpiyang, Yainganpokpi to Simon Shamusong road, Tuisomyang and other villages black topping work is underway, the MLA affirmed that by 2016 all the villages within the constituency will have black-topped roads.
Stating that Saikul AC has a total of 250 villages with most of them having community hall and playground facilities constructed/developed under the MLA's local area fund, Yamthong also assuring to provide basic amenities in all the villages also conveyed that construction of a bridge over Thui river is nearing completion.
While expansion of road from Sapermeina to Ekou along with drainage work have been carried out with black topping targeted for completion within March next, the MLA further confided that for development of Saikul to Purum Likli the CM has assured to provide necessary funding.
Along with the Government sanctioning for a bridge over Ithoi river to link Saikul with Yainganpokpi for which the project would be implemented under the PMGSY, there is also plan for connecting Saikul and Kangpokpi with a bridge over the river in Echai Lamlen area.
The MLA also claimed that by 2016 dusty road would be history in Saikul AC.
