Tangkhul CSOs submit memo to CM, demand immediate withdrawal of deployed AR

Ukhrul, July 30 2018:
The Tangkhul Civil Societies including TNL, TSL, TKS, TMNL jointly signed by the respective presidents of the organizations, today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh via Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, demanding immediate withdrawal of Assam Rifles personnel deployed at the southern region of Ukhrul district.
The memo mentioned for withdrawal of security forces deployed, from the strategic areas, in order to restore peace and harmony.
Ahead of the submission of the memorandum, the Tangkhul CSOs called an emergency public meeting at town hall Phungreitang, Ukhrul at around 4 pm to declare the drafted memorandum and to highlight the present situation of the said area.
During the public meeting, TNL president Weapon Zimik highlighted the progress of Indo-Naga political dialogue.
According to his statement, only two points are left pending for the final solution, however, he confided that the GoI has proposed the NSCN IM leaders to accept the proposal of shared sovereignty and Indian currency in the draft for settlement.
Claiming that Indo-Naga political solution would be resolved and is likely to be announced anytime, TNL president urged the southern Nagas to prepare to overcome any obstacles that may likely ensue at the time of declaration of the Indo-Naga solution.
Weapon claimed that deployment of Assam Rifles in the southern Tangkhul villages is the handiwork of the CM to jeopardize the hard earn Indo-Naga peace process.
He claimed that signing of Framework Agreement is a landmark achievement for the Nagas.
The talk were held 2 times in a week and more than 90 rounds of talks were held with interlocutor RN Ravi and the Naga leaders to expedite for an early settlement, he said.
Indo-Naga solution is at the final stage for inking the agreement and Nagas have to be prepared for any eventuality, he alerted.
While TSL president Grace Shatsang stated that huge deployment of 17 AR troops on the pretext of medical camp at Shingkap village has raised doubt about their sincerity and has created a sense of insecurity and fear to the surrounding villagers.
In the statement, the troops AR were camping at Marou, Shingta, Lungphu, Itham, Bahoram, Chongdan villages led by Commdt 17AR while about 100 AR personnel have already camped at Hongpei village since July 27 .
Public opinion and suggestions were also sought and discussed during the meeting.
It stated that the CSOs will resort to intense form of democratic agitations if the State Government fails to meet the demand while cautioning that the State Government will be held responsible for any unwanted incidents which might occur.
