Imphal, July 29 2018:
All Club Organisation Association Manipur and Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup) Kangleipak has conveyed that the leaders of the State may be members of big political parties based in mainland India but they should not forget that they are Manipuris elected by the people of the State.
It also mentioned that it is high time the people question themselves how they elected these so called leaders and how much the State and its people have developed under their leadership.
A press release issued by the secretary information and publicity secretary of ACOAM-Lup today alleged that the appearance of a point similar to Article 371 (A) in the report submitted by the Parliamentary Standing Committee in connection with the Framework Agreement is a result of the failure to take timely action and lack of unity among the political leaders of the State.
It also alleged that none of the political leaders of Manipur brought up the issue in Parliament and they seem content with blaming and insulting each other only when the situation reaches critical status.
On the other hand, the association condemned the act of MP K Bhabananda when MP Raja brought up the issues plaguing Manipur, including the Manipur University issue.
It claimed that the response of MP K Bhabananda making the university issue seem like nothing in front of the members is not in the best interest for the people of Manipur and is certainly not desirable.
ACOAM-Lup also strongly condemned the Statement made by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on July 26 during the Parliament Monsoon session claiming that Hindu-Bangladeshi who came to India before 2014 are legal.
It reasoned that even though the State Government passed Manipur People Bill during the recent Monsoon Assembly session based on the demand by the people for implementation of an Inner Line Permit system in the State, the attempt by the Central Government to impose Citizenship Amendment Bill in many of the States will clash with said Bill.
It claimed that if according to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Hindu-Bangladeshi who entered India before 2014 are legal then it will obviously contradict the base year mentioned in Manipur People Bill.
However, it is most unfortunate that not a single political party or political leader has raised any concern over the statement made by Rijiju, it conveyed.
Urging the people to be wary of the leaders playing dirty politics just for getting votes, it also warned the political leaders to never forget that if they fail to act in the interest of the people, the people may turn against them in the future.
