Imphal, December 28 2016:
The Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) has demanded the MU authority to hold the MUSU election before December ends.
Speaking to media persons at the KSA office today, Sanasam Subhachandra, convenor of JSCC, strongly condemned the MU authorities for creating panic, confusion and general disarray and for allegedly disrupting the academic atmosphere of the University by repeatedly postponing the MUSU election at the last minute.
He pointed out that it was really unfortunate that the authorities cannot even make good on their promises and statements.
Subhachandra alleged that the whole issue is the result of the authorities giving in to the demands of some people.
JSCC also condemned the alleged excesses of the security forces while dispersing the students who were protesting the corrupt and vile administration of the university and also for detaining hostel students.
"The MUSU election is under Manipur University and is not an election to elect an MP or an MLA", he said.
Subhahchandra also demanded that Prof Naorem Mohilal (chairman, MUSU election), Prof Dorendrajit (RO, MUSU election), RK M Kumar (Dean-in-charge, MU), Prof Ibohal (RO, MUSU election) and Prof N Sanatomba (security officer, MU), resign from their respective posts for allegedly blowing the whole issue out of proportion and endangering the academic career of the students.
"The MU authorities should issue a notification before 1 pm tomorrow confirming that the MUSU election will be held before December ends, without fail, otherwise the JSCC with support from the students will take up more stringent course of agitation", he warned.
