Cop among 3 held with drugs

A team of Moreh Police Commando arrested three individuals including a Kakching Police Constable (driver) along with 100 packets of Brown Sugar weighing around 1.254 kg worth Rs 2.5 crore in the international market yesterday.
Speaking to media at a press conference held at his office Tengnoupal SP Th Vikramjit said a team of Moreh Police Commando was on the look out for drug peddlers based on a reliable information yesterday between Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2 and Moreh Police Station when two individuals on a moped were stopped for checking.
While the police personnel were checking a cardboard box they were carrying, the two individuals ran away and were lost in the crowd, he added.
It was also found that the cardboard box was filled with 100 packets of Brown Sugar.
On receipt of further information that the two drug peddlers had left for Imphal, the CDO team apprehended Constable Moirangthem Sushil (37), s/o M Engocha of Khangabok Makha at Wangjing Bazar who was involved in smuggling of drugs from Moreh towards Imphal.
Moirangthem Sushil revealed during preliminary interrogation that Yumkhaibam Warish Khan@Bojo (28), s/o Y Islamuddin of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai was also involved and that one Hafijuddin (21) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong was the owner of all the drugs they smuggled.
Following this Y Warish Khan and Hafijuddin were arrested from Wangjing Bazar by the CDO team, SP Th Vikramjit told the media.
A case has been registered at Moreh Police Station and the apprehended drug peddlers along with the seized contraband have been handed over to Moreh Police Station.
SP Th Vikramjit handed over cash rewards in appreciation of the action of the CDO team.
