CCpur, April 28 2018: A teacher was suspended from service after her proxy allegedly subjected a class-I student to physical torture on Thursday at Kumbipukhri Government High School in Churachandpur.

The teacher has been identified as Chingkholam and the proxy teacher, her son as Demmang Haokip.

An FIR has also been lodged against Demmang Haokip at Churachandpur police station.

The student, according to a complaint filed by the boy's father, was whipped repeatedly with a bamboo stick for not carrying his Social Science text book to school.

He was beaten so badly that he could not walk home from school and needed hospitalisation.

With the local police registering a case under section 324 IPC and Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 they have started investigating the case to sequentially expose that the teacher in question was a mere proxy for his mother, who is the real teacher.

Police sources said the authority concerned has suspended the real teacher for the torture, while also maintaining that the processes to unearth other proxy teachers are underway.

Drugs seized : A joint team of Imphal East district police Narcotic Cell and NAB, arrested four individuals along with six packets of heroin powder from Hatta Golapati today.

According to a police source, the team arrested three of the individuals during regular patrolling at Hatta Golapati at around 2.10 pm.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thounaojam Jonney alias Nanao (21) of New Checkon Mandop Leirak, Abra Hussain (25) of Hatta Golapati as well as another juvenile.

They were arrested along with six small packets of heroin powder.

Later, the same police team arrested another youth identified as Md Saint alias Sanjit (19) of Hatta Golapati Mana Ingkhol from the same area at around 3 pm, along with eight packets of heroin powder.
