Kuki Students' Organization-GHQs today expressed deep concern over gauche atmosphere in Bungpi area following the murder of a truck driver and urged not to cause any disturbance to the innocent villagers, reports our correspondent.
The student body said that there have been reports of Gangpikon and Songphel villagers being allegedly threatened in the wake of the incident caused by some unscrupulous individuals while adding that threatening innocent villagers does not bode well for everyone and the situation could take an ugly turn if such threat persists.
Condemning the killing of innocent driver Ashang, the student body said that the abominable act was an act of some unscrupulous individuals and must not be construed as an act of a particular community.
Seiboi Haokip, general secretary, KSO-GHQs said that police have already apprehended one of the alleged killers and the case is being investigated earnestly by the authority concerned.
As such, the true nature of the incident and the persons responsible for the killing would be revealed in the course of the investigation.
Therefore, the trouble that continues to persist in the area in spite of the arrest is rather perplexing and unfortunate, he added.
The student body also blamed the incompetencies of the police and investigating authority for the alleged threat on innocent villagers and added that the State Government would be held responsible for any undesirable consequence that may happen due to confusion and misunderstanding among the people.
"The Government should leave no stone unturned to arrest the mastermind(s) behind the killing so as to put to a rest to all the misgivings and doubts", it added.
It also appealed to every individual and organization to maintain sanity and refrain from any activity that involves threat and intimidation to innocent villagers.
