AR denies arrest

Reacting to a news report regarding a housewife claiming arrest of husband and three two others by Assam Rifles troops manning Khudengthabi check post, PRO IGAR (S) today rejected the report as 'absolutely false and baseless' .
In a statement issued today, the PRO clarified that troops located at Khudengthabi have not arrested the three persons as had been mentioned in the housewife's memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister seeking the latter's intervention to provide information on the trio's whereabouts.
Moreover the post (Khudengthabi) also operates with the police and all arrests are made in their presence with the police counter-signing the arrest memo, maintained the PRO adding that Assam Rifles has approached the police authorities and the families to extend full support in establishing whereabouts of the missing individuals.
As had been reported in some dailies including The Sangai Express in the July 27 edition, one Sarungbam Thoibi Devi of Karam village had claimed that her husband namely S Bobo Singh along with Jackson of Machi Konaithong in Chandel district and Laishram Herojit Singh of Utlou Awang Leikai were arrested on July 23 morning at Khudengthabi check post by the AR troops manning the post.
Their whereabouts remain unknown till date, she had claimed in her representation to the Chief Minister.
