PFA recues wild animals, poachers held

In a commendable act, Paona Memorial Club of Uchekon apprehended four bird poachers from Uchekon Takhok Loukon along with three spotted doves and two bird nets on Friday.
The four poachers who have been identified as Pukhrimayum Mujikir Khamba (24), s/o P Babu, Sangomsumbam Wahidur Boicha (26), s/o S Yaima, Sangomsumbam Janab Khan (23), s/o S Shyam and Azad Khan (26), s/o Fajurahaman of Keirao Menjor Ingkhol were handed over to PFA, Manipur.
PFA further handed over the accused to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Central Forest Division for necessary action.
The poachers were detained for a night at DFO and were imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each.

In another incident, three orphaned juvenile leopards were rescued by PFA, Manipur.
One of these three cats were spotted by one Haobam Jenit of Leirongthel Awang Leikai at Khorbok Khunbi Hillock, and the other two were handed over to PFA by one Khundongbam Pamuba of Heirok Part II, founder, Dorendro Memorial English School.
The animals are being treated at the intensive care of PFA animal shelter.
In another incident, one injured and displaced female barking deer was rescued by United Kochin Club, Saiton of Moirang.
The deer, however, died on its way to the PFA's animal shelter.
Post mortem report indicates that the animal had died of Capture Myopathy or more popularly known as Shock Disease.
AK Santikumar, OC, Imphal police station had helped PFA in the rescue mission.
Meanwhile, Dr S Nimaichand of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai handed over one injured Monocle Cobra to PFA today.
The cobra was shot at the head by local youth with a shot gun, Nimaichand informed.
The reptile is healing under PFA's intensive care and would be released into the wild soon, a statement informed.
A Russel Viper was also handed over to PFA by one Pebam Tayai of Singjamei Kshetrileikai and his friends along with his friends.
