Panels monitor people under home quarantine: CM

Three committees formed under the State Government have started monitoring all the people quarantined at their respective houses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, stated Chief Minister N Biren while reiterating his appeal to all the people to stay put at home.
In a recorded message sent to press, the Chief Minister informed that out of 1,84,028 people screened on their arrival in the State, 55 were foreign nationals.
Altogether 486 people are currently placed under home quarantine while 323 people have completed the quarantine period.
Committees comprising of MCS officers, police officers and doctors have started monitoring all those placed under home quarantine, Biren said.
Informing that many other people are being housed at 16 different quarantine centres, the Chief Minister appealed to all the people to stay put at home during the next 18 days.
Seeking cooperation of all the people, he asserted that the COVID-19 pandemic must be fought collectively.
Authorities have started supplying necessary PPE and masks to doctors, nurses, quarantine centres, district hospitals and police who have been at the forefront of the battle against the pandemic, Biren said.
He also appealed to all the people to remove barricades put up at their res- pective localities as these barricades would pose serious hurdles in emergency situations.
Substantial quantity of rice has been entrusted to MLAs and DCs for distribution to public during the lockdown period.
The Chief Minister said that officials have been instructed to deliver rice at the doorsteps of each household.
Saying that pharmacies would remain open, he appealed to people coming to pharmacies to stand three feet apart.
Necessary measures have been initiated to let grocery shops open on rotational basis in all districts from tomorrow, Biren said while appealing to all the people not to indulge in panic-buying or hoarding of essential items.
During the lockdown, different parts of marketplaces which are potential spots for breeding diseases have been sanitised, Biren said.
Saying that Rs 11 lakh has been donated to the COVID-19 relief fund so far, Biren conveyed gratitude to the donors.
As for people currently stranded at Guwahati, necessary arrangement has been made to accommodate them at the city's Manipur Bhavan, he added.
