Imphal, February 26 2023:
It is "our high hope" that the Government of India with her noble sense of humanity and dignity will resolve the long drawn political issues of all the Zeliangrong kindred people, said Jenchui Kamei, Chairman ZUF (Zeliangrong United Front) .
He said this while speaking at the 13th Raising Day celebration of the ZUF at the Camp Mount Ararat Khoupum yesterday.
Camp Mount Ararat is a newly designated camp installed for the front.
Chairman Jenchui Kamei hoisted the ZUF flag followed by revolutionary gun salute to slain members and a Jadonang parade to mark the day.
Paying homage to all those who have died for the cause of Zeliangrong, Jenchu Kamei said the day reasserted the rights and hope of the people.
The "Zeliangrong Revolutionary Govt" was formed to protest over India's long "negligence and denial of our rights for many decades" .
"Our fight is not with the Nagas but whosoever opposes us.
We have cleared our path, defended our cause and land.
We have withstood the test of time.
We have come this far with defensive measures and restrained offensive measures," he said.
He officially declared that the name of the Central Council HQs of ZUF shall be called and known as Camp Mount Ararat henceforth.
The name Ararat is the name of a mountain where the Ark of Noah rested after the flood.
The name was chosen to reflect the present status and vintage ground where Zeliangrongs stand for final settlement of the political aspiration after much struggle and suffering, the ZUF leader said.
The ZUF have always exercised an accommodative and collective policy to take all Zeliangrong people on board.
"I affirm and re-assure our people that we have never failed our commitment and will not fail our people," Jenchui Kamei said.
The ZUF has gained positive momentum with the Government of India and established a term of understanding and agreement.
A way for political talk and settlement by entering into a term of cessation of Operation agreement has been paved.
The term of agreement covers all Zeliangrong inhabited areas and land, he said.
It may be noted that on December 27 last year in New Delhi, the ZUF had signed a ceasefire agreement with the Centre and the State Government.
He expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah for their readiness and willingness to resolve the Zeliangrong's genuine issues and also, thanked CM N Biren Singh for taking up constant initiatives towards making all possible arrangements for setting up a secure designated camp and for all necessary assistance made.
"It is our high hope that the Government of India with her noble sense of humanity and dignity will resolve our long drawn political issues of all the Zeliangrong kindred people.
Let us pray and hope that God will give us the desire of our people soon in our time and generation," Jenchui Kamei said.
Yesterday's event was also attended by general secretary of the front, Aihong Riamroi as guest of honour.
ZPC general secretary CR Zeliang spoke on the history and political perspective of the ZPC movement.
