'Empty Streets of Wuhan', a song dedicated to the victims of COVID-19 was released during a function organised at Tribal Research Institute today.
Composed by Ngachonmi Chamroy, the song shares solidarity with China in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the event, Ngachonmi Chamroy said that the people of China have been discriminated and blamed for the outbreak owing to their food habits.
People are also claiming that the virus appeared due to the chemicals China produced.
The same discrimination has been faced by people of North East in mainland India.
As such the song has been composed to encourage and support the people of China, he added.
Stating that the song was composed for performing during Lui Ngai Ni, he also said that it was already released on the internet and the Chinese people have expressed adoration for the song.
The song is about love, understanding, empathy and compassion, said Ngachonmi.
On the other hand, Rewben Mashangva said that the song performed at Lui Ngai Ni reached above one lakh views on Youtube within 10 minutes.
Rani Sharma, Hoikimnei Kom, Shomiya Rumthou and Reuben sang the song.
