NEFIS condemns 'irregularities' at MU

Imphal, August 25 2019: NEFIS has come out strong against 'irregularities' in disbursement of fellowship amount to Non-NET research scholars in the Manipur University.

It has also submitted a memorandum to UGC Chairperson on August 24 for immediate intervention to check the 'irregularities', said a statement of NEFIS yesterday.

It had submitted a memorandum to Manipur University Vice-Chancellor last month.

But, there has been no action till now, said NEFIS.

Earlier at Manipur University, the scholars were being 'denied the fellowship since 2017'.After, NEFIS had submitted a memorandum to the UGC, the MU had started disbursing the Non-NET fellowship to the research scholars.

However, they were given fellowship amount of three months only, said NEFIS alleging that there are 'irregularities' in the matter.

NEFIS through the memorandum on August 24 has sought UGC's intervention and actions to ensure timely disbursement of fellowship amount to Non-NET research scholars.

NEFIS would intensify its struggle on the issue if its appeal is not heard, said the statement.
