Letpao bats for integrity

Water Resources Minister and Government spokesperson Letpao Haokip has stated that the State Government is firm in its stand not to allow any kind of alteration in the territorial integrity of Manipur under any circumstances.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet held at his Secretariat Office today, Letpao also said that the State Government is ready for an Assembly session if the need arises.
The newly-appointed spokesperson told media persons that the Government will not tolerate any amendment to the State's territory.
The Government is determined not to allow any kind of autonomy to certain areas or section of the people as an outcome of the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement, he added.
Letpao Haokip appealed to the political parties not to politicise the issue and mislead the public in ways which can hurt the sentiments of the people of the State.
He added that the present State Government is clear on its stand to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur at any cost.
The Minister also appealed to the public not to panic and have faith in the Government.
He also gave assurance that the Government will face all the issues and threats to the State and its people and sought cooperation from the public.
Responding to the accusation of Opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh regarding the non-extension of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Session, Letpao Haokip said that the recently concluded tworday session was planned after a detailed meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.
If there is a need for an Assembly Session, the State Government is ready to convene Special Session if the need arises, he added.
On the issue ofManipur University, Letpao said that the Government is trying to bring an amicable solution at the earliest to ensure that the academic career of the students are not affected.
With the constitution of the Fact Finding Committee, a reasonable and pofitive outcome will surely emerge, he opined.
The Minister also stated that no one is above the law and one cannot be punished without being proved guilty.
He further appealed to the public to have confidence and patience with the Government in finding out the truth on the allegations levelled against the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University.
He assured non-tolerance of anyone found guilty, irrespective of stature and position.
The press meet was also attended by Chairman, Tourism Corporation Manipur Limited Dr Sapam Ranjan, Sekmai AC MLA H Dingo, Keirao AC MLA L Rameshwor, and Yaiskul AC MLA Th Satyabrata Singh.
The Minister and the MLAs appealed to the public to work together with the Government and to support the Government in bringing solution to the issues faced by Manipur at the earliest.
