Farmers training programme

Imphal, March 25 2017:
Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University, organised a one day awareness programme under the theme 'Cultivation of Vegetable as a part of Income Generated Activities for the Livelihood Security of the Farmers' and a farmer training programme under Farmer First programme today.
Director of Research (CAU Imphal) Dr CA Srinivasamurthy, Chief Executive Officer (Manipur Organic Mission Agency, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation) K Debadutta Sharma and Principal Investigator (FFP) and Professor and Head of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, COA, CAU, Imphal, Dr Ph Ranjit Sharma took part in the event as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Speaking at the event, Dr Ph Ranjit said that the event has been organised under the Farmer First programme launched by the India Government.
He said, "The Government of India approved the project after CAU applied for the programme under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor" .
The main aim of the Farmer First programme is to educate the farmers and with the help of scientists make them aware of the various techniques and methods for improving their livelihood and income generating activities.
"The event has been organised to make the farmers self sufficient and self reliant", he added.
