Imphal, November 24 2018:
Informing that the Sapormeina bailey bridge which connects Saikul sub-division and Kangpokpi Headquarters has not been attended for years, United Welfare Committee (UWC) has appealed the State Government to repair the bailey bridge at the earliest to avoid unwanted accidents.
The committee has also urged the department concerned to shift the HT line passing through Kangpokpi District to another safe location saying the HT line over the houses in the area is troubling the dwellers.
People in the area are feeling insecure as a result of the high tension wire above their roofs, said the committee.
Addressing a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, UWC president Nehkhothang Kipgen conveyed that people of Saikul sub-division and Kangpokpi Headquarters are concerned about the safety of the Sapormeina bailey bridge which 'need urgent reconstruction and renovation'.
People of Kangpokpi district had raised their concern and asked the Govt and department concerned through media many times before, said the committee.
On the HT line issue, Nehkhothang alleged that it is causing health problems to the dwellers concerned and appealed the authorities concerned to shift the HT line elsewhere.
