Thoubal, October 24 2019: 28th World Mental health Day was observed at Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal today.

The event was organised under the theme "Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention" by District Mental Health Programme, District Health Society Thoubal.

DC Thoubal N Bandana Devi, CMO Thoubal Dr N Jayentakumar, District Hospital Thoubal Superintendent Dr Ch Memcha and Waikhom Mani Girls College Principal Okram Ibeton Devi attended the observance as presidium members.

28th World Mental Health Day observed

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal N Bandana talked about rights of women and suicide as mental health problem at the event.

She identified many factors such as depression, family related problems which drive one to commit suicide.

Proper care, timely intervention, treatment and counselling can help prevent suicide, she said.

Resource persons talked on Electors Verification Programme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and One Stop Centre.
