Imphal, January 24 2018:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to clarify its stand regarding the territorial and communal integrity of Manipur, before January 31 .
A press release issued by the information and publicity secretary of AMSU, stated that the union is well aware that the media report regarding the 'Proposed Draft Agreement of Naga Accord' by RSS North East organiser Jagdamba Mall is a grand political game plan.
Stating that AMSU as well as the people of Manipur will oppose any plans/steps to harm the territorial integrity of the State, the Union claimed that the said proposed draft contains points which will result in communal tension in Manipur.
The said draft also include points to try and distinguish seven districts of the State in the name of being Naga ancestral land, it claimed and added that RSS as well as the Central Government should be clear of the fact that there are no separate Meitei land, Kuki land or Naga land in Manipur.
The association conveyed that Manipur belongs to all the communities residing in it and claimed that the points regarding establishment of a Development Authority for every Naga inhabited lands/ districts in the proposed draft is an attempt to create communal divide in the State.
If such Development Authority are established based on community or castes, will there be no further development in Manipur, it asked.
The union further stated that Jagdamba Mall then clarified that he was wrongfully quoted by the media and Manipur RSS also claimed that the said individual is not a member of the RSS.
All of these is a ploy to confuse the people of Manipur, which is made all that apparent by the fact that Jagdamba Mall and Manipur RSS began clarifying and finger pointing before any groups or parties from Manipur even began speaking against the said draft, AMSU claimed.
Questioning whether RSS wants to divide Manipur in the name of caste/ community, AMSU demanded RSS to clarify its stand regarding the integrity of the State before January 31 .
The student body further said that that it is the duty of the Chief Minister, who has also made several promises regarding the territorial integrity of Manipur and the Framework Agreement between NSCN (IM) and GoI, to clarify regarding the RSS issue before January 31 .
