Dog bite claims woman's life after 7 months

CCpur, October 23 2019: A woman who developed symptoms of rabies in the past couple of days passed away at RIMS hospital, Imphal around 3 am today.

Thiemting @ Tingboi (56) w/o (late) Lunkhokap of D Phailien Churachandpur was reportedly bitten by her pet dog sometime in March 2019.The dog, sources said, died about a week after biting.

Despite the apparent sign of the dog showing symptoms of rabies, she failed to get treated with anti-rabies vaccine.

It apparently was too late when the symptoms of rabies showed up on October 20, a good seven months after she was bitten.

She was initially taken to the district hospital Churachandpur to be eventually taken to RIMS as her condition deteriorated, where she succumbed this morning.
