Transporters form JAC

A transporters joint action committee (JAC) has been formed in connection with the kidnapping of bus driver Thokchom Ingobi from Assam on the night of June 13.The JAC is jointly formed by the bus owners, the counter-keepers of transport and the drivers.
The JAC after its formation has pledged this afternoon not to resume their services of plying their vehicles unless Thokchom Ingobi is released by the abductors.
The JAC has also taken a decision that it will take the responsibility of endeavouring to rescue the kidnapped driver.
Inter-state buses originating from Imphal have been halting their services since June 19 morning following the lapsing of deadline given by All Manipur Night Super Drivers' Welfare Association to release the abducted driver from Assam.
The All Manipur Night Super Drivers Welfare Association had taken a decision to cease their daily services from the morning of June 19 if abducted driver Thokchom Ingobi was not released by 5 pm of June 18 .
Thokchom Ingobi was kidnapped in Assam reportedly by Manipur based militant outfit KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) group.
Thokchom Ingobi, 35 years, s/o Nimai of Khongjom Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district of Manipur was kidnapped from Jakhalabanda in Assam on June 13 late night.
He was driving a luxury bus bearing registration number Mn 01-1785 .
