Imphal, June 23 2013:
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has appealed the State Government to revoke its Cabinet decision taken on June 6 last which cancelled this year's State PMT.
There is no interim order of the Supreme Court that prohibits conduct of PMT by any State or Union Territory, said the organisation in a press release.
Puducherry, Tripura and Sikkim have not only conducted their respective PMTs but also declared results, the organisation added.
Endorsing the demand of the Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians Association, the press release said that KSO would pledge support to association's demand for holding PMT in the State.
KSO further said that Supreme Court decreed on January 15 this year that Medical Council of India (MCI), Dental Council of India (DCI), Universities and other medical institutes would be entitled to conduct their respective entrance examinations for MBBS, BDS and PG courses, but results must not be declared until further order of the Court.
Prior to this decree, the press release said, Christian Medical College, Vellore and some other institutes challenged MCI's notification issued on December 27, 2010 which directed that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) be the basis of admission in all the medical institutes across the country.
Later, SC clubbed together all the analogous cases for hearing, the press release said.
