Khongjom Day celebrated across State and Tripura

Khongjom Day was observed across State today to commemorate the Battle of Khongjom and the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives fighting against the mighty British forces in the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 .
Advanced Intermediate College and Advance Intermediate School, Moirang led by its Principal, Y Modhu Singh along with teaching, non teaching staff and students observed Khongjom Day today by paying floral tributes to the unsung heroes of Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891.As part of the event, a United Nations Mock session on "Global Warming" was also held participated by the students representing 12 countries of the world.
The students who performed well at the mock session were also felicitated with certificates and other gifts as encouragement.
At Yairipok, Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Thougal Kanglup Yairipok under the initiative of Umang Lai Kanba Lup and Sana Konung Uttra Sanglen organised a Mathematics Competition, Patriotic theme Poetry Recitation Competition, and a Painting Competition today at Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Laibung in connection with Khongjom Day.
A Quiz competition will also be held on April 27 (Sunday) at 2 pm, in which the winners of today's competition will be felicitated.
Under the aegis of District Administration Thoubal, the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur, Thoubal Branch in collaboration with District Health Society Thoubal, District Police Thoubal, Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal, NSS Units, Waikhom Mani Girls College, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion and Voluntary Donor Group organised a blood donation camp today at Khongjom War Memorial Complex in connection with Khongjom Day observance.
Altogether 124 individuals including 36 women donated blood during the camp.
Sahitya Seba Samiti Kakching, Manipur observed Khongjom Day today accompanied by a discussion session on 'Meeoiba Kanano Punshi Karino' authored by its founder secretary Yengkhom Bihari.
The event was held at the auditorium hall of the Library and Information Centre located at Kakching Phousupat Leikai.
The gathering observed a two-minute silence to honour the village volunteers who laid down their lives during the ongoing conflict.
A floral tribute was also offered to the brave warriors of the Anglo-Manipur War 1891.As a part of the event, Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, former Vice Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University and renowned writer Salam Tomba spoke about Yengkhom Bihari's 'Meeoiba Kanano Punshi Karino' at length.
A poetry session was also conducted wherein notable writers of the State presented self-written Khongjom Day poems.
Sahitya Akademi Awardee Kshetri Bir, president, Sahitya Seba Samiti Kakching graced the program as the functional president.
The day was also observed in the State of Tripura at Gouranagar under Khowai district by offering floral tribute to the statue of Paona Brajabashi and observed a two-minute silence as mark of respect to the valiant heroes of Manipur.
The event organised by Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum Tripura was attended by Forum president, Ningombam Bira Singh, renowned Social Activist, Moibungkhongbam Pramod, Forum advisor, Rajkumar Tarunjit Singh, vice-president, Laipubam Ranjan Sharma and N Madan as presidium members.
The secretary of the Forum, Khoisnam Mangal gave the keynote address to the gathering.
