Community awareness & early cancer detection program held

Imphal, January 23 2024:
Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre in collaboration with Thongju Part II Gram Panchayat and Seva Club organized a community awareness and screening camp (early cancer detection program) to observe 'World Cervical Cancer Awareness Month' at Thongju Part II .
The early cancer detection program included an awareness session, general health check up, risk assessment, HPV vaccination and screening for 6 major forms of cancer which included � oral, breast, cervical, lungs, prostate and colorectal.
Several people including men and women from Thongju Part II area attended the camp.

Dr Thingujam James, Consultant-Gynae Oncologist, Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre was present at the camp to highlight the importance of early detection and HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer.
He also raised awareness about the causes and symptoms of cervical cancer and asked people to take precautionary measures.
The objective of the program is to create awareness about cancer-care, regular health check�up, early detection of cancer and prevention.
