Imphal, October 22 2012: A makeshift tent at a rubber farm in Jiribam was burnt down by some armed men in plainclothes yesterday around 12.30pm.Armed men who came in a Tata Sumo and Bolero jeep have also picked up a student of Uchathol, Hijam Maipaksana and a villager Pramud Singh before setting ablaze the makeshift hut at a rubber farm near the newly constructed IRB Training Centre here.

Some rubber plants were also devastated by the raging fire.

The rubber farm belongs to one Konjengbam Kaoba Singh.

Speaking to reporters, Konjengbam Pratima, wife of Kaoba demanded clarification from all concerned in connection with the razing down of the hut while also conveying her dissatisfaction over the act.

Condemning the act of burning down the hut without giving her prior information, Pratima also urged all concerned to desist from such acts in future.

She added that she would seek justice with the help of civil society organisations based in Jiribam.
