Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union-Regional Campus, Manipur has warned of seeking CBI inquiry to the Vice Chancellor of the University for reducing the university seat intake capacity, our correspondent reports.
Speaking to media persons at Kangpokpi, IGNTUSU President K Bowang Kho said the Vice Chancellor had shattered the dreams of many aspiring students who want to pursue post graduation in Political Science, Sociology, MSW, Tribal studies, M Phil and PhD by cutting down the number of intake per semester.
The Students' Union had sought clarification from the VC and the Academic Council on the reduced intake capacity (from 30 to 20), Bowang Kho stated.
The authority concerned, however, failed to respond to the union's demand, he added.
Meanwhile, the student union has warned that it would seek CBI inquiry into the first and second phase construction work of the Varsity's main campus at Makhan in case the joint inspection is not conducted as demanded by the student union.
The union has also warned to file a case against the Vice Chancellor in case the monthly stipends are not released within the next academic session.
Mention may be made, the student union had continuously appealed to University authorities to shift the Regional Campus at its permanent campus at Makhan by the next academic session in July 2015 but no positive action has been taken up till now.
