Two suspects have been remanded to six days police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West yesterday for the murder of one Maibam Babu of Iroishemba Maning Leikai.
The two identified as H Lalboi (30) of Aima Village (at present staying at Langol Game village Zone-II Punsi Khul) and Kshetrimayum Momocha (43) of Iroishemba Maning Leikai were arrested as suspects on August 19 evening by Lamphel Police and they were produced before the CJM Imphal West yesterday along with a prayer for 8 days police custody remand.
During the hearing before the CJM, Investigating Officer of the case through Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted that Maibam Babu, the victim was found unconscious at Langol Game Village Zone-II near Mary Kom Boxing Academy on August 15 at around 5.20 pm .
He was evacuated to RIMS hospital, but expired the following day.
The postmortem of the deceased was conducted at RIMS and it revealed 'intracranial hemorrhage' with fracture on skull bones resulting from blunt force on the head to be the cause of the death.
The doctor had opined that the case was homicidal in nature and "somebody might have caused injury on the head of the deceased before his death," submitted the IO.
When examining the deceased's wife Maibam Purnima, she claimed her husband went out with Kshetrimayum Momocha in the morning of the day of the incident.
After investigation, two persons who had accompanied the deceased were identified and later arrested as suspects, submitted the IO.
The two suspects further admitted that they had consumed alcohol with the deceased on August 15 at around 9 am at Langol Game Village close to the crime scene.
The IO further submitted that the arrested persons are "highly suspected" to be involved in the commission of the crime and prayed for custodial interrogation of the suspects.
The Court after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the two suspects to 6 days police custody till August 26 .
