Training programmes at CAU

A one day awareness cum training programme on "Processing and packaging of agri-horti products for enhancing shelf-life" organised by the Directo- rate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal was held at the assembly hall of CAU, Imphal.
The inaugural programme was graced by Dr Y Jekendra Singh, Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering, COA, CAU, Imphal, Dr PK Srivastava, Prof, College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal and Dr Ph Ranjit Sharma, Principal Investigator (FFP), Head, Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, COA, CAU, Imphal as presidium members.
Dr Y Jekendra emphasised on the need for farmers and authorities concerned to work together to increase the crop yield.
Dr Ph Ranjit said, "Problems faced by the farmers should be discussed at length and various beneficial schemes introduced for the farmers should be also educated through discussion programmes.
On the other, a one day training programme on "Scientific rearing of pigs" was organised jointly by AICRP, CAU, Manipur Centre and Directorate of Research, CAU, Imphal at the conference hall of CAU, Imphal.
The training programme was organised under the aegis of ICAR-NC on Pig Rani, Guwahati.
Prof JM Laishram, Dean, CAU, Imphal, Prof N Ram Singh, Head, Department of Agri Economics COA, CAU, Imphal and Dr Th Ranadhir Singh, Head, Department of Animal Sciences, COA, CAU, Imphal graced the programme as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the programme, Prof JM Laishram said, "While rearing pigs, it is important to remember that pig feed should be clean and healthy.
Scientific rearing of pigs will increase the income generation of the farmers and provide sustainable livelihood" .
