Churachandpur, May 20 2021:
The Loktak Project Affected Hills Area Chief Association, Churachandpur (LPAHACA), in a statement issued today, appealed to the State Government to provide fair, sufficient and regular supply of commodities through the PDS, NFSA and PMGKAY schemes and other essential items for the people of the area.
The Loktak Project area lies in the northern part of Churachandpur district Headquarters comprising Aimol, Chiru, Kom, Rongmei and other communities under Kangvai Subdivision of Henglep constituency.
LPAHACA stated that the people of the area are mostly farmers and daily wagers.
They have been suffering due to the imposition of lockdown as a preventive measure to combat COVID-19 pandemic.
The number of NFSA card holders is very less in the area mostly due to the negligence of the State Government and District Administration, resulting in minimal supply of NFSA and PDS commodities in the area, which is inadequate for the whole population, it alleged.
Considering the increasing number of COVID-19 infections in the area, LPAHACA also appealed to the Government to set up a Covid Care Centre in the area with adequate equipment and facilities including manpower.
LPAHACA mentioned that after the resignation of the Henglep AC representative from the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the area has been without a representative to voice the grievances and the area has been deprived of the various schemes of the Government.
LPAHACA further appealed to the District Administration and the Chief Minister, N Biren Singh to look into the matter with utmost concern and consideration at the earliest.
