Khilton Nongmaithem dances his way to CIDLD

Imphal, January 20 2020: In recognition of his works and contributions in the field of modern dance and theatre, Khilton Nongmaithem has been admitted to the highly coveted membership of the Conseil International De La Danse (a body of UNESCO), for the year 2020 .

Khilton is a protege of late Oja Debabrata Sinam, popularly known as Oja Debo of HULA Singdamsang, Keishamthong.

He studied under the tutelage of Oja Debo for 20 years.

Khilton has performed throughout the world and has received great reviews and some of the prominent centres where he performed include The Smithsonian, Washington DC, Kennedy Centre Washington DC, Royal Festival Hall, London, Peacock Theatre, London and Tanzehaus, Dusseldorf, Germany.

His works have earned great reviews from publications and centres such as The Washington Post, The Smithsonian and University of Exeter, UK .

He has also published in leading publications such as the Journal on Asian Martial Arts.

Khilton was also awarded the UNESCO, Aschberg Bursary in 1995 in the field of Martial Arts.

He currently teaches and performs in the Washington DC area.

A communique issued by Adamanta Angeli, Executive Director of CTD, said Khilton has been admitted as a member with privileges from the USA.

The privileges authorize Khilton to issue CID certificates to his students and also the authority to nominate persons for membership to the CID.
