Two journalists get awards on JNN foundation day

Imphal, December 19 2024: The 2nd Kekrebam Sanaton Singh Memorial Best Journalist Award 2024 was handed over to Elangbam Ojitkumar alias Mushuk of Impact TV and RK Chandrasana of Jiri News Network (JNN) during the 20th foundation day observance ceremony of JNN.

The award comes with Rs 10,000 in cash, citation, shawl and memento.

The event was held at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today and witnessed the attendance of Kekrebam Saratkumar, chief advisor, JNN and Chairperson, Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board; Khogendra Khomdram, president, Editors' Guild, Manipur (EGM) and Editor of The Sangai Express (Manipuri edition); N Bidyananda, District Information Officer, Jiribam and Bijoy Kakchingtabam, president, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) as the chief guest, functional president, guest of honour and special guest respectively.

Addressing the gathering, Kekrebam Saratkumar said that the award was dedicated to his late father.

It is presented to two reporters, one from Imphal and the other from Jiribam.

However, the biennial award will be changed into an annual award from next year.

An additional award will be given to a journalist from Assam, taking the number of awards to three, shared the chief advisor of JNN.

He also stressed on the role of JNN in delivering hews and current events in Jiribam.

On the occasion, Khogendra Khomdram highlighted the significance of Jiribam district to the State and urged JNN to cover and deliver all news from the district to the public.

He also extended appreciation to JNN for their stellar reporting.

Bijoy Kakchingtabam asserted that journalists should be truthful in order to right the wrongs of the State administration and bring society on the right track.

He conveyed best wishes to JNN in delivering news reports from Jiribam to the public.

The event was also graced by M Romeo Singh, founder, JNN; Nando Luwang, president, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) and other notable personalities.
