Imphal, September 19 2018: A woman sustained bullet injuries after she was shot by her son-in-law at Naharup, Imphal East district under Porompat police station this afternoon.

Irom Randhir (37) s/o Manglem of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai shot his mother-in-law Pebam Takhellei (59) w/o Robindro at her Naharup Mayai Leikai residence using a shotgun at around 4.20 pm.

Takhellei was hit by pellets on hands, chest and abdomen and she is currently undergoing treatment at Advanced Speciality Hospital and Research Institute.

Randhir is a police Constable and he is currently posted at Imphal West District Police.

He married Takhellei's daughter Sonia alias Pepe (32) and they have a son and a daughter.

It is alleged that Sonia often came to her parental home due to harassment by Randhir.

She came to her parental home about four months back and she has been staying there since then.

Randhir told Takhellei over phone today that he would come to her place to take back his wife but Takhellei made it clear that she would not hand over her daughter to him.

Later, Randhir came to Naharup and shot his mother-in-law.

Following the incident, an FIR has been registered at Porompat police station and police are searching for Randhir, informed a source.
