KISG, CSOs Saikul favour local contractors for PMGSY works

After the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) fails to serve its purposes in Saikul area under non-local contractors, Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai and CSOs including KSO unanimously decided to streamline the current PMGSY works in the area.
The Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and CSOs Saikul also favoured the local contractors to take up the current PMGSY works sanctioned for the area and urged the department concerned to give the works only to the local contractors, in respect of Saikul Sub-Division.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held today at KISG Hall in Saikul Sub Divisional HQs, president of KISG, Seimang Lupho said that they had found many substandard quality and non completion of works in the implementation of PMGSY 2016-1017, in Saikul Sub Division.
He alleged that the previous PMGSY schemes were implemented by non local contractors without any sense of responsibility towards the welfare of the people which rendered thousand electorates in the area to remain in the same condition like before.
He continued that black topping of Molkon to Phaibung road, Bailey bridge over Zildung between Lhungtin and K Mollen and earth work between Tingpibung and Mahadev were sanctioned for the current 2017-2018 under PMGSY in respect of Saikul.
While preferring local contractors to take up the works sanctioned for the current PMGSY schemes.
KISG president urged the department concerned to give the contract works only to the local contractors.
He also said that KISG and CSOs Saikul will strictly monitor the implementation of PMGSY works and strict vigilance on quality of work and timely execution will be maintained.
He further said that KISG and CSOs Saikul will also monitor the sincerity and functioning of Government establishments including SDO, PHC, etc in Saikul Sub Divisional HQs and added that any negligence of duties by any employees will face consequences.
He also highlighted various grievances of the people owing to the inadequacy of doctor at PHC Saikul and the tremendous hardships faced by the existing doctors and staff of PHC Saikul while appealing the authority concerned to provide adequate doctors at PHC Saikul, at the earliest.
Seimang Lupho also pointed out that the base of Molkon bridge has been badly affected during the recently flood and further urged for the immediate intervention of the PWD Department to take necessary measures to ensure safety of the bridge and the people.
