Langban Tarpon offered to martyrs

Prayers and other oblations were offered at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple in Palace Compound, Imphal today for the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the ongoing conflict to rest in peace.
A large number of people gathered at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple to participate in the ritual of offering Langban Tarpon organised by Shree Shree Govindajee Temple Board Manipur.
Speaking to the media, Kakchingtabam Bogindro Sharma, publicity secretary of Brahma Sabha, Shree Shree Govindajee Temple Board, said that since time immemorial the ritual of offering Langban Tarpon has been carried out by the Meiteis to pay respect to their ancestors.
He continued that the solemn event was organised today to pay homage to the ancestors and the brave souls who gave their lives to protect their motherland in the ongoing conflict.
Bogindro also shared that the Shree Shree Govindajee Temple Board has been conducting various rituals/prayer programmes for restoration of peace in Manipur.
Moreover, Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup and Wangkhei Meiraba Memorial Trust also jointly organised a "Langban Heisoi/Heikat Leikat Tamba" ritual at Khongjom Tenggol Leikai on Wednesday.
During the event, prayers and other oblations were offered at Khongjom River for the martyrs of Anglo Manipur War 1891 to rest in peace.
