JCILPS-SW, PSO join hands

The Joint Committee onlnnerLine Permit System-Students Wing (JCILPS-SW) and the Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO) have agreed to struggle collectively to ensure that ILPS or a similar mechanism is enforced in the State.
Speaking to media persons at the Sega Road, Thouda Bhabok Leikai office of JCILPS today, JCILPS-SW convenor Manjit Sarangthem appreciated Chief Minister N Biren's assurance to table a Bill for protection of indigenous people in the monsoon session of the State Assembly.
Yet, he urged the State Government to take up all necessary measures before it is too late so that the indigenous people of Manipur are spared from the tragedy which befell upon the indigenous communities of Tripura.
After the indigenous T ripuris have been reduced to the status of a; small minority in their own home land, neighbouring Assam too has been facing serious demographic threats due to incessant influx of non-local people.
Indigenous communities of Manipur too have been put under serious threats in all aspects of life due to unrestrained influx.
Illegal immigrants have been found in possession of several identification documents including Aadhaar cards.
Maintaining that a regulatory mechanism should be enforced at the earliest, Manjit said that their drive to verify non-local people would be further intensified.
He urged the Govemmentto take up prompt action andrepatriate all illegal immigrants from the State.
PSO president Azizur Rahaman Pukhrimayum said that they would pledge full support to the people's movement being spearheaded by JCILPS for enforcement of ILPS or a similar mechanism in the State in order to protect the indigenous people from the onslaught of incessant influx.
He appealed to the entire Meitei Pangal community to use surnames given to them by Meitei kings in front of their names.
He also appealed to the Pangal landlords not to rent out houses/rooms to non-local people who do not possess valid identification documents.
