FPS agents, sub-dealers likely to face the axe

Imphal, July 17 2015 : Fair Price Shop (FPS) agents and SK oil sub-dealers selected at the recommendation of the disqualified MLAs of Thangmeiband A/C, Thongju A/C and Wangoi A/C may be dismissed soon.

The CAF&PD Deputy Secretary has today informed DCs concerned to dismiss the FPS agents and SK oil sub-dealers of the three Assembly segments.

Whereas the three MLAs who recommended their names have been disqualified, there is a Government instruction not to select any new FPS agents or SK oil sub-dealers on regular basis until the National Food Security Act is implemented in Manipur which is likely in September this year.

It was in accordance with this Government instruction that the DCs concerned were asked to de-recognise the FPS agents and SK Oil sub-dealers of Thangmeiband, Thongju and Wangoi Assembly segments.

The CAF&PD Deputy Secretary's intimation further directed the DCs to select new FPS agents and SK Oil sub-dealers on ad-hoc basis as a stop gap arrangement until the National Food Security Act is implemented in Manipur, informed an official source.
