143 Bn CRPF conducts wreath laying ceremony

The 143 Bn CRPF organised a wreath laying ceremony at Eureka High School, Sapam Zone III, Thoubal district in honour of CT/GD Sapam Sanjit Singh who gave supreme sacrifice for the Nation on February 17, 2004 .
According to a release issued by the 143 Bn CRPF, CT/GD Sapam Sanjit attained martyrdom on Feb 17, 2004, when 44 Bn of CRPF, launched an operation against insurgents at Moirang Khunou village, Bishnupur.
During the operation, when the troops reached close to their target, the insurgents waiting for an ambush opened indiscriminate firing on them.
The brave troopers including CT/GD Sapam Sanjit Singh of CRPF sustained grievous injuries in the battle with insurgents and attained martyrdom.
Ravinder Sharma, Commandant, 143 Bn CRPF accompanied by other officers of Unit and Jawans paid floral tributes and homage to the martyr in presence of S Chaoba Singh, father and S Sapam Ongbi Ahanbi Devi, mother of martyr along with his family members.
Besides, A Nongpokningthou Meitei, Headmaster and other teaching staff, students of Eureka High School, villagers and other eminent figures of the locality were also present.
A photo framed of the martyr alongwith gifts was also presented to the martyr's family.
In connection with the event, parents of Shaheed Sapam Sanjit Singh also distributed prizes to the class wise toppers of the school who excelled in the academic session, 2024-25 .
The Commandant-143 Bn CRPF further assured the martyr's family that the CRPF family will always be ready to take care of the martyr's family needs in future.
